Tip of the Katrina 'Berg--October 20
Entering Mississippi October 19th on I-59 . . . Once upon a time pine trees towered above travelers, providing shelter from the sun in all but the middle of the day. No more . . . now jagged teeth above growing beds of mulched trees march on for miles.
After Hattiesburg . . . passing rolling fields of portable trailers, sitting, unused. How many communities have contributed to their idleness by refusing to allow evacuee camps to be set up in "their backyard?"
West of Orleans Parish . . . some homes with minor damage, so many more sit with tarped roofs and piles of debris. Boats on land, mud in the streets, naked roofs, and belongings ruined beyond repair.

Just scratched the tip of the 'berg and will share more, especially of how Methodists and others are hard at work.
